MORRIS, Ill. — Making only his second appearance of the year, Max Kahler captured the 40-lap super late model stock car feature race Saturday at Grundy County Speedway as the northern Illinois oval hosted its “Back to School Night.”
After lining up eighth, the 21-year-old racer from Caledonia sped to his first career late model victory at the third-mile paved speedway, taking the checkered flag in front of Blake Brown by a mere 0.062 seconds.
Finishing behind the leading duo in the 18-car field were Larry Schuler, fast-timer and points leader Eddie Hoffman, Stan Zolodz IV and Clay Curts.
Jonathan Stevens was the winner of the 25-lap street stock main event. Scoring his fourth feature win of the season, Stevens posted the victory ahead of Matt Lee, division leader Ryan Dawson, Renee Farren and Alex Gay.
Jason Van Hise took home two victories during the evening, winning both 15-lap feature races for the Sixers class. Peyton Payne and Gracie Flannigan split feature wins High School Racing Association action.
Landon Hocking won the 15-lap Super Cup headliner, defeating Carter Appleton and Evander Peterson.
