MORRIS, Ill. — Andy Jones, behind the wheel of the Keith Tolf-owned No. 52, came home the winner of the 40-lap super late model stock car feature race at Grundy County Speedway Friday night as the raceway hosted its annual Kids Night/Bicycle Giveaway event.
The son of longtime and popular stock car racer, Tom Jones, the second-generation speedster raced to victory, scoring his first feature win of the year ahead of eight-time track champion Eddie Hoffman, having a 2.937-second advantage at starter Greg Kuntz’s checkered flag.
Dave Gentile Jr., Anthony Danta, Ricky Baker and D.J. Weltmeyer trailed the leading duo at the finish after a field of 15 started the evening’s headliner.
Jonathan Stevens was the winner of the 20-lap street stock main event. Stevens bested Chad Bayuk, Matt Lee, Ryan Dawson and Kristi Odom. Jerry Legner claimed top honors in the 15-lap feature race for “Crown Vic” competitors. Â
David Einhaus and Jake Cholke chased Legner at the end. Landon Hocking was the winner of the 15-lap super cup feature, finishing ahead of Eyander Peterson and Brian Baldyga.
Jimmy Anderson posted his fourth feature win of the year, claiming another Midwest Mayhem Midgets main event. Anderson had a .0764-second lead at the finish over David Ward. Nick Grommes, Jim Hines and Scott Dunning finished in the top five.
