MORRIS, Ill. — Possibly on his way to an unprecedented seventh track championship, Eddie Hoffman won the 30-lap late model stock car feature race at the Grundy County Speedway Friday night during the Jake Bradley Memorial program. Â
Starting the night on top of the division standings, the veteran Chicago area racer had second fast time and then came back and wheeled his Feece Oil Co./Advanced Generator-sponsored Chevrolet SS No. 8 to his second feature win of the season at the third-mile paved oval. Â
The victory was Hoffman’s 147th of his career at the Morris raceway. Â
At the checkered flag, Hoffman had a 0.160-second margin over second-place finisher Anthony Danta. D.J. Weltmeyer, Nathan Kelly, Clay Curts and Keith Tolf rounded out the top six in the 13-car field.
For the second week in a row, Tristan Batson was the winner of the 25-lap Mid American sportsman main event. Fast-timer Batson scored his fourth feature win of the year, wheeling his Chevrolet to the finish line ahead of Marques Hoover, two-time division champion Kevin Murphy, Sean Matthuis and David Einhaus.Â
Eddie Ligue won the street stock feature. Grabbing his fourth win of the season, Ligue bested Scott Gardner, Chad Bayuk, Randy Weese and Scotty Gardner in the 25-lap chase. Katie Hocking was a first-time feature winner as she captured the 20-lap Pure Stock, four-cylinder, main event. Hocking finished ahead of Trevor Starek and Dan Schmeissing.Â
