ATTICA, Ohio — Cap Henry has been having a banner year and that continued Friday night at Attica Raceway Park.
Henry secured the 30-lap feature victory after starting on the front row and sailing to a commanding lead. That lead would eventually evaporate as Henry and Travis Philo put on a clinic the last handful of laps for the top spot.
“The guys gave me a great car,” said Henry. “The car got pretty tight on that restart. I had the wing to far back, but then I got it moved forward going down the backstretch and was able to move on from there. It was a little more exciting then I wanted it to be. We got another one, I am glad to be part of this team.”
A race that started out the first half in complete control, quickly turned into a speed rush in the closing laps after a red flag restart on lap 14. Henry handily steered to the front and set the pace throughout the first half of the 30-lap contest when a red flag was displayed at lap 14 as a car tipped over on the frontstretch.
Philo would restart fifth but by lap 20 third, lap 25 second and right there as they went side-by-side, Henry up top and Philo on the bottom. Finally ,at lap 27 Philo pushed to the lead going through turn four, but off turn four Henry diamond it off and right back on top he went. Once back in front Henry checked out.
Philo would drop to fourth, as Buddy Kofoid would blast to second after starting 13th with Parker Price-Miller third. T J Michaels rounded out the top five.
“We were kind of undecided where we will race tomorrow night coming into the weekend, that’s really why we are here tonight. I was second in points, but we’ll see where we are at after this one,” Henry said. “The guys keep working on this thing and giving me a good car. We are not racing for points, so we will see what happens, we just have to see where we are after tonight. I like to run the whole race up at the top, I hated to move down there on the bottom. I like to run the whole race up there I can see what they are doing, Just so proud of this team.”
Jamie Miller won the 305 sprint car feature and Rusty Schlenk topped the late model main event.
