MORRIS, Ill. — Eight-time Grundy County Speedway track champion Eddie Hoffman captured his 154th career feature win at the third-mile paved oval Friday night, winning the speedway’s 40-lap super late model stock car headliner.
It was feature win No. 1 this season for the veteran speedster from Wheaton, Ill., who wheeled his Feece Oil Co./Advanced Generator Chevrolet No. 8 to the checkered flag.
Hoffman, who was the fastest qualifier earlier in the evening, was chased to the finish line by Indiana’s Stan Zolodz IV with Hoffman having a 0.573-second advantage at the end. Kyle Shear, James Gregait, Dave Gentile Jr. and D.J. Weltmeyer rounded out the top-six finishers.
James Dean was the winner of the Mid-Am sportsman 25-lap feature race. Dean bested Jeremiah Senko, fast timer Scotty Gardner, Kevin Murphy and Cameron Preisler.
Ethan Wolf captured the special 25-lap main event for the pure stock (four-cylinder) division. Wolf bested Matt Lee, Trevor Starek, Dan Schmeissing and Jeffrey Turner.
In super cup division action, Chris Rossiter won the 20-lap feature race ahead of Carter Appleton, Landon Hocking, Richard Bischof and Brian Baldyga.
