SLINGER, Wis. – Five small car divisions brought 76 cars to Slinger Super Speedway Sunday night to compete in the inaugural Small Car Nationals.
Called the world’s fastest quarter mile, the high-banked paved track lived up to that claim with high speed action.
Bandolero’s kicked off the series of main events and Kody King led 14 laps before Alex Hartwig got under King on the back stretch and made the wining pass on the low side of turn three.
As Hartwig built a lead, three cars raced for second and it was Laney Osborne claiming the spot after 20 laps while King finished third.
The Slinger Bees had a 20 lap main and Brandon Tackes led all the way for the win with his father, Marty Tackes, finishing second. Brandon Berens was third while the only car to pressure the winner, Ricky Gebbard, took fourth.
Legend Cars ran the next main and a grinding finish to a very competitive race occurred when leader Matt Allen and Austin Jahr got together approaching the finish line. Allen slid across the line first, while Jahr was second over Tim Brockhouse. Allen took the lead on lap 23 following a side by side battle with Jahr.
The American Super Cup Series saw Parker Lindermann lead one lap before Logan Julien made an inside move in turn four on lap two. Brian Baldyga caught up to Julian on lap 22 and swept by the leader in turn one to lead the final four laps.
Baldyga won the 25 lapper with Julien second over Jessica Talley.
The final main for Super Bees was completely dominated by Kyle Stark, who led all 30 laps with Brandon DeLacy finished second and Rick Schaefer took third.
