MAQUOKETA, Iowa — A packed Saturday night program at the three-eighths-mile Maquoketa Speedway offered seven divisions of which five were IMCA sanctioned.
Mitch Morris led the modified main running the top while Charlie Mohr stayed on the bottom. On lap six Mohr made the bottom work and led the final fifteen laps to collect his first ever main event win.
Following the first time winner across the line were Jeff Larson and Mark Schulte.
Late model action had third starting Logan Duffy use the bottom of turn four to lead on the opening lap. Duffy quickly established a significant lead but the non-stop 25-lap main factor made things interesting.
Bryce Garnhart was able to close on Duffy due to traffic, and coming out of turn four for the final time, it set up a drag race to the line. Duffy won that battle and collected his 11th late model career win over Garnhart by a couple feet. Dalton Simonson was third.
Jeff Larson ran away with the stock car lead but with two laps remaining drove off the back and pitted. This created a surprise duel between Jacob Ellithorpe, Gage Neal and Richard Nelson.
Ellithorpe came up with the win with Neal and Nelson chasing him to the checkered flag.
Northern sport mods were all following eighth starting Tyler Soppe after he used the bottom of turn four to pass Josh Kloepping on lap five. Soppe claimed the win over Corey Kuntzleman and Kloepping.
The hobby stock main seemed to belong to Sheldon Hunter until a three car pack formed on the last lap. Third place Daniel Waiters dove to the bottom of turn one and won the race to the checkers with Jared Miles and Hunter following.
Cole O’Brien won his first legend race on dirt and the sport compact checkers went to Josh Starr.
