MORRIS, Ill. — Former track champion Anthony Danta made off with top honors in the 40-lap super late model stock car feature race at Grundy County Speedway Friday night. Danta, the speedway’s 2016 late model titlist, wheeled the Trgovich Racing/Ray Szarmach-Attorney Ford No. 11 to his first feature win of the season at the third-mile paved oval.
Starting on the outside of the front row of the feature field, Danta battled with two-time Grundy champion Ricky Baker most of the way, holding a 0.296-second advantage over Baker at the checkered flag.
Trailing the leading duo at the finish were Blake Brown and fast qualifier Eddie Hoffman, who leads the current division standings. Max Kahler and Jim Weber rounded out the top six finishers.
Cameron Preisler grabbed his first career Mid-Am sportsman feature race win, beating Jeremiah Senko, fast qualifier and division points leader Kevin Murphy, Rickey Mathis Jr. and James Dean.
On top of the current points tally, Ryan Dawson was the winner of the 25-lap street stock headliner. Dawson, a second-generation racer, captured his fourth feature win of the season in a close finish ahead of Matt Lee, Alex Gay, fast-timer Kellen Arnold and Chad Bayuk.
Bart Brockman claimed top honors in the 20-lap pure stock (four-cylinder) main event. Brockman finished ahead of Dan Schmeissing and Landon Hocking. David Einhaus took home the win the 20-lap main event for the Crown Vic division. Einhaus bested Jake Cholke and Chad Bayuk.
