Brown Wins Grundy Super Late Model Feature

MORRIS, Ill. — Blake Brown captured the 40-lap super late model stock car feature race during Armed Forces Night at Grundy County Speedway Friday night.

The Caledonia, Wis., speedster wheeled his No. 71 to the victory, beating eight-time Grundy champion Eddie Hoffman by 0.242-seconds at the checkered flag. It was Brown’s first feature win of the season at the third-mile paved oval.

Finishing behind the leading duo of Brown and Hoffman were Keith Tolf, last week’s feature winner Clay Curts, Dave Gentile Jr. and James Gregait.

Racking up his second feature win of the season, Matt Clemens was the winner of the 25-lap Mid-Am sportsman main event. Clemens defeated James Dean, Vince Cooper, fastest qualifier Jeremiah Senko and Cameron Preisler.

Zach Legner won the 20-lap pure stock (four-cylinder) division feature race ahead of Zach Chanda, Jakob Koppers, Todd Snow and Trevor Starek.

Jimmy Anderson claimed his second Midwest Mayhem Midgets feature race of the year, grabbing top honors in the 20-lap open-wheel main event.

Anderson piloted the David Ward-owned, High Performance Lubricants/Engler Machine and Tool-sponsored No. 1, to the win ahead of Billy Hulbert, David Ward, Travis Mahoney, Jim Hines and Doug Orseske.

Mike Slabenak escaped injury after a high-speed crash at the start of the race, hitting the turn one wall and then flying high into the air.
