Bilderback Captures Grundy Feature

MORRIS, Ill. — Scoring his third win of the year here, Michael Bilderback won the 30-lap feature race for Big 8-style late model stock cars Saturday night at the Grundy County Speedway as the raceway presented its first-ever Figure 8 Trailer Race of Destruction.

Fastest qualifier earlier in the evening, Bilderback drove his Crazy Times Pub & Grub Chevrolet No. 2 to the victory ahead of Jake Gille, Dennis Smith Jr., Joshua Lundy, Steve Rubeck and Nolan Woods.

Scoring a win for the first time in 2024, Billy Rud claimed top honors in the 25-lap Mid-Am sportsman headliner.  Rud guided the Nelms Racing Chevy to the checkered flag in front of division points leader Kevin Murphy.  Ron Vandermeir Jr., Rickey Mathis Jr., Cameron Preisler and Matt Clemens chased the leading duo to the checkered flag.

Billy Hulbert captured the 25-lap main event for the Midwest Mayhem Midgets. Winning for the third time this season, Hulbert, fast timer earlier, defeated Jimmy Anderson, Tom Schnabel, Nick Grommes, David Ward and Jimmy Fifield in the open-wheel contest at the third-mile paved oval.

Scott Koerner was the winner of the 25-lap pure stock (four-cylinder) feature race.  Now a two-time winner this year, Koerner bested Dan Schmeissing and Colten Williams.

Jason Van Hise won the 15-lap ‘sixers’ feature race with Jackson Martindale winning the high school racers contest.

Closing out the night, Cliff Fandrich was the winner of the crashing and smashing-filled figure 8 trailer race.
