Bilderback Captures Grundy Big 8 Series Headliner

MORRIS, Ill. — The Big 8 Late Models stock car series visited Grundy County Speedway for the second time this year with Michael Bilderback again coming home the winner as he won Friday night’s 38-lap main event during the track’s “Spirt of 76” program. 

Bilderback, who won at Grundy County in Big 8 action in late April, scored the victory ahead of new series qualifying record holder Kendrick Kreyer, who worked his way through the filed to post his runner-up finish.  

Grant Brown, Jon Reynolds Jr., Brandon Laing and Mahlon Borntreger rounded out the top six. Bilderback, from South Beloit, Ill., led flag-to-flag in his Crazy Times Pub & Grill Chevrolet.   

Kevin Murphy was the winner of the Jake Bradley Memorial 38 lapper for Mid-Am sportsman competitors.  Winning for the fourth time this season at the third-mile paved oval, Murphy, division champion at the speedway in 2019 and 2020, bested Matt Clemens, Wisconsin visitor Nick Bruley, James Dean and Ricky Mathis Jr.

Billy Hulbert won the Midwest Mayhem Midgets 15-lap main event.  David Ward and Jimmy Anderson chased Hulbert to the finish line. 

Chad Bayuk won the 15-lap headliner for the new “Crown Vic” division while JoJo Fadke claimed top honors in the 15-lap Super Cup feature race.
