HAMPTON, Va. – Peyton Sellers earned a $7,500 payday for his victory in Thursday’s inaugural Grassroots 200 at Langley Speedway.
The race, which served as a replacement for the cancelled Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown, featured a 16-car field of some of the best late model stock car racers in the region.
Sellers didn’t have the best car all night, but he did do the best job staying out of trouble. His top rivals Philip Morris, Josh Berry and C.E. Falk all were involved in on-track incidents that opened the door for Sellers.
A restart with 20 laps left allowed Sellers to overtake Greg Edwards for the lead, a position he would hold for the remainder of the event.
Berry overcame his on-track issues to finish second, followed by Edwards, Mark Wertz and Falk.
The finish:
Peyton Sellers, Josh Berry, Greg Edwards, Mark Wertz, C.E. Falk, Justin S. Carroll, Justin T. Carroll, Terry Carroll, Danny Edwards Jr., Eddie Johnson, Rick Gdovic, Maddy Mulligan, Philip Morris, Thomas Scott, Brenden Queen, Thomas Marks.
