SARVER, Pa. – Lernerville Speedway opened its racing season on Friday night, with Sye Lynch besting a strong field to win the Peoples Natural Gas DIRTcar Sprint Car 25-lap main event.
Jack Sodeman Jr. was the man to beat early in the 25-lap feature by setting a blistering pace after he took the lead from his third starting spot, seemingly leaving the field behind.
However, hrough the field from the fifth spot was Lynch who made his way around Sodeman at the lap 13 mark and kept the field behind him. That included a hard charging A.J. Flick, who put himself in a position to challenge for the lead after coming forward from his seventh starting spot.
Lynch made timely decisions in lapped traffic and was strong in clean air as well en route to collecting the feature victory, the 999th sprint car race in Lernerville Speedway history.
Flick settled for second, followed by Sodeman in third, Michael Bauer in fourth and Darin Gallagher in fifth.
Ken Schaltenbrand triumphed in the Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Model main event, taking the lead with just more than two laps to go from Colton Flinner.
Jeremiah Shingledecker ran down Garrett Krummert on lap 22 to take the lead in the Diehl Automotive DIRTcar Northeast Big Block Modified feature and held on to win the 25-lap main event.
Daryl Charlier roared from the ninth starting position to take the lead on lap six during the Millerstown Pic-A-Part Penn/Ohio Pro Stock feature. He fended off a challenge from Corey McPherson on the final lap to pick up the victory.
