Krummert Takes The Checkered In Hidden Valley

CLEARFIELD, Penn. — Garrett Krummert took home the laurels after winning the Second Annual Fay Lumadue Memorial for the small block modifieds on Saturday night at Hidden Valley Speedway.

Ryan Shaffner took home his first career Amsoil Pure Stock feature win while Levi Ardery picked up his second Scaife’s Racing Supply Semi Late feature, Todd English won his third street stock feature and “Wild” Bill Hassenplug Gallitzin picked up his fourth Craig’s Welding and Fabrication Four Cylinder feature.

The Scaife’s Racing Supplies Semi Lates were led to the green flag by Justin Owens and Ardery, with Ardery shooting into the lead at the start and Owens falling into second.

Gary Little held third before the first of several cautions would slow the action. On the restart, it was still Ardery in control, as Little was able to steal second from Owens heading into the first turn.

While working down the backstretch on lap nine and heading into the third turn, Little was able to wrestle the lead away from Ardery as Owens continued to watch the battle in front of him.

As Little was setting the pace, Ardery was busy fighting back and nipping away at Little’s lead. On lap 16, Ardery was side-by-side with Little out of the fourth turn and had the lead at the line, with Little now in second and Owens still sitting third.

On lap 17, Little pulled into the pits and his night was over. Owens took over second and tried to reel in Ardery when the final caution waved on lap 18 for a crash between Eric Lucas and Jeremy Lippert. The two-lap shootout to the finish the race saw Ardery hold off Owens for the win with Steven Scaife third, George Bailey fourth and Matt Howell fifth.

Krummert and Tom Holden sat on the front row for the start of the Fay Lumadue Small Block Modified Memorial race, going 38 laps in memory of Tim Owens. The green flag saw Krummert take the lead, with Holden in second and Kyle Fink in third.

By lap two, Fink was in second and chasing Krummert. However, Krummert was not about to share with anyone else, as he led the entire 38-laps.

The race was slowed to a halt on lap 13 when Bobby Garvey pulled into the infield and crawled from his car before collapsing. A medical team evaluated him and deemed him ok. Garvey told officials that his transmission exploded beneath him while at speed. Thankfully, he was not hurt.

The remainder of the feature saw Krummert leading the way with Fink trying to steal the lead. Fink came up short and the official top five included Krummert in first, Fink second, Tom Holden third, Jimmy Holden fourth and Shannon Casher fifth.

The street stock feature saw Chad Rougeux lead the opening lap before Mike Bordt took the lead on lap two. One lap later, it was English taking the lead. That was the last challenge for the front, as English went on to get his third win of the season.

Bordt was second, with Rougeux third and Glen Layfield in fourth.

Joe Kephart sped off the front row before Ryan Jones and led the opening lap of the Amsoil Pure Stock feature with Ryan Shaffner in second. As the field exited turn four on lap two, Kephart got high and lost several positions, while Shaffner took the lead and never relinquished it.

The top five at the finish were Shaffner, Lester Hudson, Jones, Bob Holt and Kephart.

Luke Hoffner and Hassenplug led the Craig’s Welding and Fabrication Four Cylinders to the start, as Hassenplug took the lead and Hoffner took second. Two cautions on lap two slowed the race, but the rest of the feature went non-stop.

Hoffner was trying everything he knew to get by the leader, but Hassenplug wasn’t letting the top spot go easy and Hoffner eventually ran out of time by the end of the 15-lapper.

When the checkered flag waved, it was Hassenplug taking the win, Hoffner was a close second, his son Brandon Hoffner was third, Jimmy Ogden was fourth and Tyler Gill was fifth.
