Hudson Crosses Line Backwards To Win At Hidden Valley

CLEARFIELD, Pa. — Lester “Bud” Hudson won the Pure Stock feature Saturday night in dramatic fashion while young Jacob Begenwald picked up his career first feature win at just 15-years-old in The Laurel Highland 305 Sprints.

The Pure Stock feature was exciting from the start, with Ryan Jones and Hudson on the front row. Hudson took the initial lead, and while he led the whole race, it was far from easy.

Jones was second for the first three laps, then Tyler Rougeux took over second and was pressuring Hudson for the lead, but Jones was right there in third, then Joe Kephart joined the fight and John Eckenrod was sitting in fifth.

The top three of Hudson, Rougeux and Jones were under a blanket and were waiting for a slight bobble from someone to take advantage, and as the checkered flag was about to wave, Rougeux got out of shape trying to dive under Hudson in turn four.

Rougeux made contact with Hudson, and Hudson crossed the finish line first, but backwards and the field had no where to go and several cars ended up in a pile at the bottom of the track.

When the carnage was figured out, everyone was OK but a lot of cars needed some work.

Jimmy Ogde picked up his second Little’s Drive In Four Cylinder main while Jorjie Sweger picked up the Legends Series win.

The Scaife Racing Supplies Semi Late Feature was on the track when the skies opened up.
