First Time Winners Dominate Hidden Valley

CLEARFIELD, Pa. – Multiple first time winners were in store on Saturday night at Hidden Valley Speedway.

For the Scaife Racing Supplies Semi Late feature, Eric Lucas and Gary Little brought the field to the green flag, with Lucas shooting into the lead at the start. He was door-to-door with Little the first lap before a rash of cautions began on lap two.

After several cautions on lap two and three the race resumed with Lucas still in control, as Little began to fade some, allowing sixth place starter Brandon DeBrakeleer to move into second on lap 9.

As the race came to a halt on lap 13 for fifth place running Larry Conklin Jr., who was having a great night, but then looped the car. The restart put DeBrakeleer right on Lucas’ bumper, but he had the right set up and wasn’t about to be denied his first ever win, as he held on for the victory.

DeBrakeleer was second with Little holding on to third, Levi Ardery was fourth and newcomer Kevin Clark was fifth.

The Small Block Modified feature was anyone’s race, as outside pole sitter and birthday boy Hayden Holden beat Shannon Casher off the line to take the lead. As Holden led, Cashier was sitting second and Milton Owens was third, but two laps later, Owens coasted into the pits. In the meantime, Casher was still second  before he spun out on lap 10 to bring out the first caution.

The restart is where it got interesting, as Holden bobbled in turn two, giving the lead over to Robert Garvey, but he lost the lead on lap 12 to Trent Ogden, but Casher was coming to the front and on lap 13, he took the lead with Garvey in second and Ogden third.

They continued to jockey for position the rest of the race, with Garvey throwing what he had at Casher, but Casher held tight as he went on to grab his first career feature win. He dedicated the win to his late grandfather, Chard Casher who was instrumental in his family’s racing careers. Garvey was second with Ogden, Holden and Owens rounding out the top five.

A.J. Bast destroyed his fellow 600 Micro Sprint competitors by lapping the field en route to his win.

Justin Watt scored his first career Amsoil Pure Stocks victory.

Repeat winners included Fuzzy Fields of Brockway in the Street Stocks and John Brown of Woodland in the Craig’s Welding and Fabrication Four Cylinders.
