Fast Flick Stars At Tri-City

FRANKLIN, Pa. — A.J. Flick came from the rear to win the final tune-up for the Krill Recycling 410 Sprints before the FAST on Dirt Sprint Series visit to Tri City Raceway Park.

Also joining him in Victory Lane were Chad Reitz (21st Century Energy Group 358 Modifieds), Brent Rhebergen (4 Your Car Connection RUSH Sprint Cars), and Rod Laskey (Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks).

Tyler Esh and Andy Priest paced the Krill Recycling 410 Sprint Cars to the start of the 25 laps for the A Main. Denny Peebles and Logan McCandless were in row two, with Jeremy Weaver and Bob Felmee right behind.

Jack Sodeman Jr. and last week’s winner, Mark Smith, aligned in row four. Body McClintock and Vivian Jones made up row five. Then came Andy Cavanaugh and Nathan McDowell. Starting in sixteenth was two-time and defending track champion, A.J. Flick.

Newcomers Esh and Priest led the way on the opening lap. Weaver, McCandless, and Peebles were in the top five. They were followed by Smith, Felmlee, Flick, Vivian Jones, McClintock and Roman Jones.

Priest did a complete 360 spin in turn two just three laps into the event, but he was able to keep his car moving. The call was made for a flagman’s caution, so Priest regained his position for the restart.

Three laps later, a caution for Aaron Murano closed the field up again. Esh still held control when the race resumed, followed by Priest, Smith, Flick, McCandless and Weaver trailed him.

Then next 15 laps were completed under the green. By lap 15, Flick advanced to second, and he had the leader in his sights. Two laps later, the front three cars were running nose-to-tail as they tried to negotiate through lapped traffic.

Flick remained in second, and he gained the lead on lap nineteen. Just one lap later, the final caution was displayed for a spin by Dusty Larson at the entry to turn two.

Flick had Smith on his tail for the last restart, but Flick got away cleanly. Smith got second, ahead of McCandless, Esh, and Priest. The finish:

A.J. Flick, Mark Smith, Logan McCandless, Tyler Esh, Andy Priest, Jeremy Weaver, Jack Sodeman, Jr., Danny Peebles, Bob Felmlee, Bodey McClintock, Andy Cavanaugh, Jazlyn Boyles, Dusty Larson, Aaron Murano, Vivian Jones, Roman Jones, Nathan McDowell.
