WALL, N.J. — Taking full advantage of a fast time in qualifying, a front row starting spot and a non-stop 40 lap modfied stock car main event, Blake Barney raced to victory at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. It was the first win of the year for the Jackson resident.
Barney charged his No. 14 to the front at the outset and never looked back. Tyler Ferris ran in second spot early before being haunted by Andre Krause and Derek Hopkinson during the middle stage of the race. Krause and Hopkinson advanced to second and third near lap 30 and then chased Barney to the finish. Ferris held down fourth and Jarret DiGiantomasso of Jackson was fifth.
Racing with a heavy heart after the recent passing of his mother, Neil Rutt III raced to victory in the companion 25-lap race for the Sportsman division. Rutt took the lead on lap four and was never headed. Zach Lenardo, Billy Both, Kevin Davison and Chris Silvestri wrapped up the top five.
Former champ Tanner Jones won the 25-lapper for the Legend Cars, taking the top spot just before halfway. Early leader Ryan MacConnell, Jack Gerzabek, Bryan Gardella and Justin Emmons were second through fifth.
Ray Minieri, Brian Doyle and Pat Brown made it an all Long Island top three in the limited late modified 25-lap race, while Mike Tillett and Jim Moormann were fourth and fifth.
T.J. Graves won the Fast 4 25-lap main event over team mate Alonzo Morales. Joe Pressey, Chris Mancini and Anthony Moran were third through fifth.
Long Island racer Chris Coleman grabbed his first ever victory in the 25-lap main event for the Three Quarter Midgets. Tyler Wagner, Buddy Sload, Kyle Teraska and Tyler Ferris wrapped up the top five.
