BROOKLYN, Mich. – Veteran driver Paul Menard wheeled his No. 12 Menards/Richmond Ford Mustang to the pole Saturday’s running of the LTI Printing 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Michigan Int’l Speedway.
Menards second Xfinity pole at the Michigan came on the heels of a lap at 193.356 mph and a lap time of 37.237 seconds.
“Well, we qualified P1, that’s good,” said Menard after his sixth Xfinity Series pole overall. “I am looking forward to a crazy type race. A lot of drafting, and some pit strategy, I look for a lot of stuff to be going on. We have a fast Ford Mustang; we did not really expect that kind of speed. I think going out early helped, a cleaner racetrack, a cooler racetrack, the cooler temperatures helped for sure. But we will have to have clean air, and some good pit strategy, so we will see. As the race unfolds, we will try to keep it up front.”
Christopher Bell qualified second with a quick lap of 37.289 seconds and a speed of 193.086 mph. Brandon Jones, Noah Gragson and Austin Cindric completed the top-five.
Joe Graf Jr. was the only driver who failed to qualify for the 38-car field.
