FORT WORTH, Texas – A pair of GMS Racing teammates will bring the field to the green flag for Sunday’s SpeedyCash.com 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Sheldon Creed will start from the pole for the 400-kilometer NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series event, based on NASCAR’s metric qualifying formula, with Brett Moffitt flanking Creed on the front row.
The NASCAR matrix factors in a driver’s lap speed ranking from the previous race, the last race finish for both driver and owner and the car’s current rank in the owner standings.
Lap speed is weighted at 15 percent, previous race finish at 25 percent for the driver and owner results and owner points position at 35 percent to calculate the final metric score.
Driver and owner playoff-eligible entries are ranked at the front of the field based on their metric scores from lowest to highest, with all non-playoff entries lined up behind the playoff cars in similar fashion.
Creed earned the top spot with a metric score of 1.5, factoring in his recent runner-up finish at Kansas Speedway, the fastest lap from that event and his status as the current point leader.
Moffitt, who is locked into the Championship 4 at Arizona’s Phoenix Raceway in November thanks to his Kansas win last weekend, will hunt another victory Sunday and some additional momentum ahead of his pursuit of a second series championship.
Austin Hill will roll off third alongside Grant Enfinger, with Chandler Smith starting fifth in the No. 51 Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports – still alive in the hunt for the car owner’s championship.
Zane Smith, Matt Crafton, Ben Rhodes and Tyler Ankrum roll from sixth through ninth, respectively, and fill out the remaining playoff contenders in the lineup.
Christian Eckes starts best among the non-championship contenders in 10th.
