Each November, we organize the Lost Speedways program at the Saratoga Automobile Museum, where we curate the racing gallery and one main gallery exhibit each year. Through that endeavor, we’ve met a great many people with a burning interest in racing history, among them Ken Parrotte of Fulton, N.Y.
Racers are, by nature, extremely competitive. No matter what division they compete in or whether they tour or concentrate on a hometown speedway, they want the fastest and neatest car, the newest trick component, the most impressive pit equipment and, most obviously, the biggest, shiniest tow rig.
With Santa’s sleigh back in the shop awaiting adjustments to meet the 2015 rule changes and New Year’s celebrations marking the start of another season, it’s time to look back on another racing season through our annual SuperFans rundown, which once again will be sponsored by Tim Frost’s National Speedway Directory
Racing season is a difficult time to find the minutes and hours needed to read a book, even if it’s really good. But we finally had the opportunity to dive into Dave Argabright’s latest effort, “On Top of the World,” and it was indeed worth the time and effort.
