DACONO, Colo. — Harold Evans used a victory in the season-ending Englewood Supermodified Ass’n event at Colorado National Speedway Saturday night to claim his first series title.
Evans, who entered the race nine points out of the series championship lead in third, started the 30-lapper eighth and quickly worked his way to the front of the field. Evans cruised to victory and the championship when point-leader Harry Stone was involved in a hard first-lap crash. He was unhurt.
Nick Haygood started from the pole and finished second. Chris Sheil, Johnny Pickard and Rich Castor filled the top five.
