HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – The United Auto Racing Ass’n will head to Rockingham Speedway this weekend for a three-day event alongside the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals.
The UARA-STARS are scheduled to take the track around 11 a.m. on Saturday morning for their qualifying laps with the green flag set to wave at 2 p.m. The drivers and teams will arrive at the track Thursday afternoon and will be ready for practice on Friday morning.
Ronnie Bassett Jr. has been very successful during the first two UARA events of 2013, claiming both victories and a pole at Hickory. Bassett hopes to continue his winning streak as he heads to The Rock.
Bassett, along with the regular UARA competitors, will compete against some of the toughest competitors from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in Saturday’s event at Rockingham.
Among them will be Clay Rogers, who will be on hand to defend his win at Rockingham last November in UARA competition.
Rogers qualified on the outside pole last fall with young Dillon Basset grabbing the pole. Rogers took the lead on lap one and never looked back for his first UARA victory at Rockingham.
Defending UARA champion Travis Swaim will be aiming for a better day at The Rock. With power steering problems early on in the fall event, Swaim and his team were working diligently to get as many laps as possible to capture the championship.
