Tyrrell & Noles Split Hickory CARS Tour Poles

NEWTON, N.C. – Mini Tyrrell and Trevor Noles split the pole awards for the CARS Solid Rock Carriers Tour Cloer Construction 250 on Saturday afternoon at Hickory Motor Speedway.

Tyrrell earned his first career CARS Late Model Stock Tour pole with a lap of 15.277 seconds (85.540 mph) in the No. 81 Mini T’s Fastest Grease in the East Chevrolet. He was the second car to take time.

Two-time series champion Bobby McCarty, currently sixth in points, will flank Tyrrell on the front row after a lap of 15.286 seconds (85.490 mph) in the No. 22 AutosByNelson.com Toyota.

Brandon Pierce converted a late draw into the third-fastest lap (15.317/85.317), followed by rookie Jonathan Shafer in fourth (15.322/85.289) and Layne Riggs in fifth (15.332/85.233).

Connor Mosack, Corey Heim, Trevor Ward, Justin Johnson and Craig Moore filled out the first five rows of the grid after two-lap time trials on Saturday.

Noles collected the top starting spot in the super late model division over pre-race favorite Matt Craig, turning a lap of 14.932 seconds (87.517 mph) to Craig’s 14.958-second clip (87.365 mph).

Justin Crider, Jeff Batten and Jeff Fultz completed the top five qualifiers in the 13-car field.

Sammy Smith, driving the Kyle Busch Motorsports No. 51 Toyota, will start a disappointing seventh after struggling on his qualifying run. Carson Kvapil didn’t turn a lap due to mechanical issues with his No. 35.

The Cloer Construction 250 will go green with the super late model feature at 7 p.m. ET, followed by late model stock car action. Every lap can be viewed live through SPEED SPORT Network affiliate Pit Row TV.
