HICKORY, N.C. — It’s difficult to find a better way to kickstart a treacherous season than with a paint scheme that’s well known in the winner’s circle.
Race car designs worthy of victory lane will be on full display during the fifth Throwback 276 on July 30 at Hickory Motor Speedway.
CARS Tour Late Model Stock regular Hayden Swank is preparing to pilot a car that throws back to one of his personal favorites.
Swank, driver of the No. 2 late model stock car, will honor former NASCAR Xfinity Series champion and current FOX broadcaster Clint Bowyer.
The paint scheme will don the sharp red-white-and-blue colors of the car that Bowyer raced to three victories during the 2005-’06
“For me personally, I just think the best throwback wraps are the ones that they’re able to throw back to the original sponsor, too,” Swank said. “Fortunately, our team was partnered with GM Genuine Parts and AC Delco for the season and it just all came together really easily. It just felt so natural.
“We decided to throwback to that scheme in particular because part one, I love Clint Bowyer. Part two, just how he used to dominate with that design — Nashville, 2005 — that was his coming out party,” Swank continued. “He killed the field in that race in particular. We’re looking to turn our season around and, hopefully, do the same here.”
Swank enters the Throwback 276 18th in points.
The Throwback 276 features both the Late Model Stock division and Pro Late Models and will be broadcast LIVE by SPEED SPORT affiliate CARSTour.TV.
