Southern National’s Thanksgiving Classic Is Eatmon’s

LUCAMA, N.C. — Southern National Motorsport Park’s annual Thanksgiving Classic saw Parker Eatmon secure his first victory in the late model stock car event on Sunday.

With 10 laps to go, Eatmon snagged the lead away from Dylan Newsome en route to the $15,000-to-win victory at the four-tenths-mile oval.

While Eatmon qualified 19th for the 250-lap race, he methodically climbed his way to the front of the field.

“It was grueling, to be honest,” Eatmon began. “I had to stay focused really on my mind just not burning out the right side of the race car. We kinda just rode around the first 150 laps. Bolted on our good tires and it really took off. I really didn’t think we had the winning car, so definitely top five.

“But, I got to third and I was like, ‘Yeah, I mean, it’s pretty much right up from here, so, I got out front and checked out.”

Jake Bollman placed second in front of Doug Barnes Jr., Kade Brown and Carson Haislip.
