BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Derek Thorn earned the victory in Saturday’s Bulwark ‘FR October Classic 150 at Kern County Raceway Park long after the checkered flag waved.
Preston Peltier dominated the second half of the 150-lap SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour late model feature and took the checkered flag first.
However, Peltier’s mount failed post-race inspection in regard to the car’s left-side weight. He was disqualified and as a result Thorn inherited the $10,500 victory.
It was Thorn’s ninth victory of the season and helped him secure his sixth Southwest Tour championship.
Jeremy Doss drove the Bob Lyon No. 44 to a second-place finish, while Dan Holtz shook his recent string of bad luck to finish third.
Kyle Keller scored the Rookie-of-the-Race Award, coming home fourth with Cale Kanke fifth.
Doss also won the pro late model and modified features.
