DENVER, N.C. – Will Gallaher will kick off his 2013 racing season in the United Auto Racing Ass’n (UARA) STARS Late Model Series season-opener at Southern National Motorsports Park (SNMP) in Kenly, N.C. next month.
Gallaher, competing in his second season as a developmental driver for Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR), will race in 11 UARA-STARS Series races, in addition to more than 10 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway and other select late model races in the Southeast.
“I am very excited to be returning to Eddie Sharp Racing for the 2013 season,” commented Gallaher. “We made some huge gains at the end of last season that I believe will help me this upcoming year. We have a lot of races that we have committed to this year with both the UARA STARS Series and the NASCAR Late Models at Hickory Motor Speedway. Our goals are: to get as much seat time as possible, to continue to learn how to drive these cars and to aim at consistent top-10 finishes. I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel at Southern National Motorsports Park.”
Gallaher competed in a similar schedule throughout the 2012 racing season, where he finished 11th in UARA-STARS Series championship point standings after competing in 13 of 16 events. This season, Gallaher hopes to improve on his 2012 statistics, while continuing to focus on his college education at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C.
Over the years, ESR has proven to be a top-team for developing young talent with drivers like Justin Lofton, Michael McDowell, Scott Speed and Craig Goess all finding success in ESR equipment in the form of championships, rookie of the year honors, and race wins.
“We’re really excited to have Will Gallaher back at ESR for the 2013 racing season,” said team owner Eddie Sharp. “Will is a very talented young driver with a passion for the sport. As a racer myself, I enjoy working with young drivers as they develop their skills; watching them grow as a driver and find success is something that brings me a lot of pride. Will and our team at ESR worked hard together last year and we made a lot of progress; we’re all looking forward to working together again this season and finding even more success on the track.”
