ROUGEMONT, N.C. – Jay Fogleman captured Saturday’s PASS South late-model event held at Orange County Speedway.
Fogleman, the series championship leader, started the race in 12th but was up to second by lap two. However Fogleman began to slip back after a battle with championship rival Kyle Grissom shortly thereafter.
He spent most of the rest of the race racing in the top five. With 23 laps left he was running fourth, but he wouldn’t stay there for long at the three-eighths-mile asphalt oval.
During a restart on lap 128 race leader Grissom made contact with second-place Tyler Church, sending Grissom into the outside wall. Series officials sent Church to the rear for rough driving while Grissom went pitside, handing the race lead to Jody Measamer with Fogleman in second.
During the ensuing restart Measamer didn’t get going, allowing Fogleman to take the race lead as Measamer fell into a battle for second with Preston Peltier. Fogleman quickly put the car on cruise control as he drove to his second PASS South triumph of 2013 during the 150-lap event.
Peltier settled for second with Church finishing third after a late-race march through the field. John Batten and Measamer completed the top five.
