NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Super late model ace Matt Craig added a pro late model crown jewel to his growing resume on Saturday night, capturing the traditional green jacket by winning the Masters of the Pros 150 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.
Craig made the winning pass on lap 83 and steamrolled the field during the last green-flag run. He won by 9.904 seconds over two-time defending race winner Bubba Pollard.
Notably, Craig dedicated his win to late chassis builder Robert Hamke, who passed away Thursday. He never drove Hamke’s house car, but was offered a ride in it several times.
Craig’s victory Saturday at Nashville was worth $10,000. The race was sanctioned by the JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour.
Behind Craig and Pollard, a wild four-car battle for third ultimately saw Jake Garcia come out with the show position over Travis Braden. Jackson Boone finished fifth.
Josh Brock, Cody Coughlin, Cole Williams, Christopher Tullis and Chase Burda filled out the top 10.
