OXFORD PLAINS, Maine — Canadian Cole Butcher held off veteran late model star Eddie MacDonald to win the 49thrunning of the Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Butcher was the fifth Canadian winner of the prestigious super late model race sanctioned by the Pro All Star Series super late model class and the first since Dave Whitlock in 1995.
Butcher grabbed the lead with eight laps remaining after bumping leader Johnny Clark from behind. Butcher, who started 20th, controlled two restarts during the remaining circuits of the three-eighths-mile track to secure the victory.
MacDonald, a two-time Oxford 250 winner, came home second, with Gabe Brown third.
Clark nursed his car home in fourth, with Max Goodson rounding out the top five in the 42-car field.
