LUCAMA, N.C. — The biggest winner’s prize in late model stock car racing went to one of the sport’s most recognizable racers Sunday evening at Southern National Motorsports Park.
Josh Berry, who parlayed his success in a late model stock into a full-time ride in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, returned to his roots on Sunday and came away the big winner.
Driving the No. 3 entry for JR Motorsports, Berry earned $50,000 for winning the Solid Rock Carriers Thanksgiving Classic at the four-tenths-mile asphalt track.
The victory was also Berry’s 100th late model stock triumph with JR Motorsports.
Jared Fryar finished second in the 250-lap event where tire strategy was key.
Kaden Honeycutt, Deac McCaskill and Matt McCall rounded out the top five.
Robert Arch won the limited late model feature.
