WILLIAMSTON, S.C. – Saturday night was a good night to be a member of the Bassett family.
Ronnie Bassett Jr. scored his fourth victory in the UARA-STARS Late Model Series in 2013 at Anderson Motor Speedway while his younger brother Dillon Bassett locked up the series championship.
The elder Bassett dominated the season finale for the touring late-model stock series Saturday. He started fourth and by lap 25 he had taken the lead from defending series champion Travis Swaim.
Once out front he was rarely challenged during the 150-lap event. Instead the focus turned to the battle for the championship between Dillon Bassett and Garrett Campbell. The pair started alongside each other on the final row in the 12-car field, with Campbell eventually racing his way up to second.
Campbell’s charge wasn’t enough to capture the championship however as Dillon Bassett finished fourth to clinch the championship by a scant eight points.
Behind Ronnie Bassett Jr. and Campbell at the finish were Swaim, Dillon Bassett and Dylan Hall.
