HICKORY, N.C. — Hickory Motor Speedway is once again set to be a blast from the past for stock car drivers and fans at the legendary .363-mile oval.
With throwback paint schemes shining all around the circuit during the fifth Throwback 276 sanctioned by the CARS Tour on July 30, driver Daniel Silvestri is ready to pilot a car adorned with a paint scheme he grew up watching in NASCAR competition.
Silvestri, who drives the No. 97 in the Late Model Stock Car division, will honor one of his favorite drivers, Kurt Busch.
The scheme will don Busch’s 2004 NASCAR Cup Series championship colors, with the famous gold Sharpie swipes alongside the car.
“I was born in 2002, I remember those cars. It was probably one of the first few cars I used to watch growing up,” Silvestri said. “I always really loved that car. I thought it was really cool looking, the gold looked really good. Plus, the 97, and Kurt is one of my favorite drivers in the Cup Series right now. I wanted to do something that kind of incorporated the 97 and something from my childhood.
“Plus, it’s going to be BitCoin themed as well,” Silvestri continued. “It goes off of what I’ve been running. Instead of Sharpie, it’s going to be saying BitCoin. I do believe in BitCoin being more of a like a digital gold. I think the gold themed Sharpie with BitCoin kind of really ties everything in really well. I think it’s going to be a really cool looking car that ties in what I’ve been trying to push, and then throwing back to a good looking car.”
The Throwback 276 features both the Late Model Stock division and Pro Late Models and will be broadcast LIVE by SPEED SPORT affiliate CARSTour.TV.
