SLINGER, Wis. — The winner of the WABAM Slinger Nationals with Cobblestone Hotels and PepperJack Kennels at Slinger Super Speedway will take home a record $20,000 this year.
The WABAM Slinger Nationals with Cobblestone Hotels and PepperJack Kennels will take place on Tuesday night, July 12 and California super late model star Derek Thorn has already committed to entering the event.
Future major driver announcements are forthcoming as the race has received strong interest from the best drivers in the Midwest and many top national super late model competitors as well as NASCAR stars past and present.
The newly announced $20,000 winner’s share, combined with the grassroots lap leader bonus effort which has surpassed $16,000 the past few years, makes the WABAM Slinger Nationals with Cobblestone Hotels and PepperJack Kennels the richest asphalt super late model race in Wisconsin.
“What excited us about the opportunity to part of the Slinger Nationals is the Cobblestone Hotels is a Wisconsin based company that has created a national brand just like the Slinger Nationals has done for Slinger Speedway,” said Brian Wogernese, CEO Cobblestone Hotels.
“I am very excited to be part of the prestigious Slinger Nationals and be able to race in Wisconsin as my Wisconsin training facility is just a few hours away,” PepperJack Kennels owner Misty Melo said. “I would like to thank Todd and his staff at Slinger Speedway for the opportunity and Steve Apel and Campbell Motorsports for helping get everything in place for our driver Derek Thorn to come out and be part of this event.”
