LODI, Calif. — Highly accomplished youngster Nik Romano has signed with Mike Garcia and Garcia Racing to compete in the Lucas Oil Modified Series.
Romano will pilot a No. 7r STR chassis in the televised nine-race series that visits tracks across California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah.
Garcia Racing is planning to attack the series with up to three cars, with Romano being joined by 2011 Stockton 99 Speedway champion Wes Miller and a third driver to be named later.
Romano comes into the Lucas Oil Modified Series on the heels of a runner-up performance in the 2012 NASCAR-sanctioned modifieds at Stockton 99 Speedway.
Prior to that, he was the 2008 SCCA Formula Ford champion, 2009 USAC Ford Focus midget champion, and has victories in modifieds at All American Speedway and NASCAR-sanctioned late models at the half-mile Irwindale Speedway.
The varied racing past for Romano will benefit him as only Rocky Mountain Raceways in Utah will be new to the 21 year-old driver.
“The Lucas Oil Mods are not very dissimilar from the cars that I have been driving, so the driving dynamic is almost the same,” Romano said. “I will be able to take what I learned in 2010 and 2012 and apply it to the STR racecar Mike is fielding this season.”
