Messer Takes Elite Realty Pro Stock 100 Triumph

GEARY, N.B. – Ryan Messer scored his second Pro Stock win at Speedway 660 in as many races, taking home the RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stock 100 on Saturday evening.

Messer, who won his heat race, made a pit stop on a competition caution at lap 40 and wasted little time coming back to the front of the field. Messer would lose the lead momentarily to Kevin Moore on the final 20-lap sprint to the finish, but regained the lead for the final time on lap 86.

Moore came home in second with Ian Rasmussen besting Dave O’Blenis and Brent Roy for the final podium position.

“I didn’t expect Kevin to be that strong on the final run but that was really fun,” said Messer of the run to the checkered flag. “This is a huge way to start off our season and hopefully we have more races like this one.”

Richard Atkinson scored a popular victory in the Late Model Sportsman feature. Atkinson outdueled reigning track champion Curtis Collins in a caution free, 40-lap feature. Atkinson and Collins spent the final seven laps side by side before Atkinson got the final advantage heading into turn three on the final lap.

Courtney O’Blenis was able to edge out her older sister, Alexandra O’Blenis, for the final podium position. Clark Moore was fifth. Courtney O’Blenis and Collins took heat race victories.

Shawn Hyslop made good on his first start of the season by winning the DMR Auto Street Stock feature. Hyslop raced to a convincing win ahead of Riley Goodwin and a close battle for third that saw Rick Cashol best Michael Cormier and James Matchett for the spot. Matchett and Cormier were heat race winners.

Malcolm Suley made his return to Speedway 660 and secured the win in the No. 57t in the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters division. In a field of 26 cars, Suley masterfully navigated lapped traffic late and kept BJ Gillespie far enough behind him to race to the checkered flag first.

Randy Titus was third followed by early leader Darren Wilcox and Randy Storey. Matt Martin, Gillespie and Wilcox captured heat race wins.

Yves McCray returned to Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane in the Atlantic Modified Tour Bryn Enterprises 35. Joe Hoyt was second at his home track with Zean Dutcher third in the caution free affair. Braxton Stafford was the heat race winner.
