LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – The storm that had been drenching Southern California arrived here late Saturday afternoon with an intensity that forced Lucas Oil Modified Series race director and Havasu 95 Speedway promoter Bill Rozhon to postpone the series’ season-opening race.
The General Tire Arizona 100 presented by E3 Spark Plugs will resume at 1 p.m. MST Sunday, a time chosen in deference to a neighboring church and residences, and tickets for Saturday will be honored.
The racing will start with the 40-lap iOn Cameras B main for the 17 Modified entries that will be trying to earn one of the 4 spots available in the 24-car field for the main event. After that, Rozhon said, the Modifieds and the track’s Street Stocks, Legends and Bandoleros will run main events only.
It was the first rainout in the eight-year history of the Lucas Oil Modifieds presented by LoanMart and it came after 2012 champion Austin Barnes had announced his return by earning the Speedco Fast Time bonus with a pole-winning lap of 15.291 seconds on the quarter-mile paved oval.
