HARTFORD, Ohio — Father and son will face off as part of the inaugural Superstar Racing Experience event held at Sharon Speedway on July 23.
SRX officials confirmed on Twitter Tuesday afternoon that NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Blaney and his father Dave Blaney, the 1995 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, will both participate in the event at the three-eighths-mile dirt track that is owned by the Blaney family.
The only time the two have competed against one another was in the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway in 2013.
Both drove Trucks owned by Brad Keselowski with Dave Blaney running ninth and Ryan Blaney credited with a 15th-place finish.
Ryan Blaney won three NASCAR Cup Series races last season, while his 58-year-old dad claimed a World of Outlaws victory at Sharon Speedway. It had been 23 years, 7 months and 2 days since his most recent World of Outlaws triumph.
