CRA To Oversee New Smyrna’s World Series

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – The Champion Racing Ass’n has been hired to manage tech procedures and the on-track competition for the 54th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in February.

CRA Chief Technical Inspector Eddie Chew will oversee all the technical aspects of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing with a crew of CRA and New Smyrna Speedway officials, except for the tour-type modifieds.

CRA’s Glenn Luckett will be the Race Director for the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing and will work with the New Smyrna Speedway staff to help with all the on-track competition during the nine nights of racing.

The news comes after Ricky Brooks, who most recently served as the technical director at the facility, announced earlier this week he was resigning from his position.

“We are pleased to announce we will be teaming up with CRA for the 54th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing,” said Rusty Marcus, General Manager of New Smyrna Speedway. “CRA was here in 2012 and 2013 and did a tremendous job, we are looking forward to working with them again as we look to continue to make this event one of the best in the country.”

“We are looking forward to working with Rusty and the entire New Smyrna Speedway staff at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing,” remarked R.J. Scott, Managing Partner with CRA. “There’s a lot of history with this great event and we want to see it continue to be some of the best on track competition in the country during Speedweeks in Florida!”

The 54th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing is set to begin on Feb. 7 and will feature nine nights of racing through Feb. 15, featuring Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, Tour Type Modifieds, Florida Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Sportsman, Super Stocks, Mod Mini’s, Bombers and the ARCA Menards East Series on Feb. 10.
