HAMPTON, Ga. — The top Bandolero racers from across the country will descend upon Atlanta Motor Speedway June 28, when AMS hosts the Bandolero Nationals. The one-day event will take place on the quarter-mile ‘Thunder Ring,” a flat racing surface located on the AMS frontstretch.
Atlanta Motor Speedway most recently hosted the Bandolero Nationals in 2009.
“We’re honored and excited to be hosting the Bandolero Nationals again at Atlanta Motor Speedway,” Atlanta Motor Speedway President and GM Ed Clark said. “We are eagerly looking forward to hosting the best Bandolero drivers from all over the country as they’ll try to tame one of the most challenging racing surfaces around.”
This year’s event will cap off three opportunities for Bandolero drivers to race at AMS within a four-day span. Atlanta Motor Speedway will host two separate rounds of Thursday Thunder for Legends and Bandolero cars on June 25 and 26.
Bandolero cars serve as a starting point for many drivers to enter racing, with drivers split into two groups based on their age, the Bandits and Outlaw divisions. The bandit division is for drivers ages 8-to-11 with racers ages 12 and up competing in the Outlaw division.
