Morgan Ends Dry Spell With Pro Cup Triumph


NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — J.P. Morgan raced to his first USARacing Pro Cup Series victory since 2009 Saturday night during the season opener for the stock-car series at New Smyrna Speedway.

Morgan, who started fourth, drove his No. 23 Chevrolet to the lead and never looked back as he held off polesitter Joey Gase and Sean Rayhall for the triumph at the half-mile asphalt oval.

Brad Rogers, brother of defending series champion Clay Rogers, finished fourth ahead of Bryan Silas in fifth.
