Merchant Nips Moore At Jones In Close Thriller


CHATHAM, La. — Kenny Merchant came out on top of a late-race battle with Ray Moore to win the O’Reilly Auto Parts SUPR Late Model Series Spooky 50 at Jones Motor Speedway Saturday night.

Merchant started 13th and roared through the field as Moore quickly moved into the lead by lap six of the 50-lap event. Moore battled Kyle Cummings for a time while Merchant sliced his way through the pack.

Soon Moore, Cummings and Merchant broke away from the field. Merchant first dispatched Cummings on lap 32 before setting his sights on Moore. The two battled side-by-side for the remainder of the race, with Merchant coming out on top at the finish line.

Cummings chased the lead duo in third. Morgan Bagley and Jeff Chanler completed the top five.
