JUPITER, Fla. — Neither rain nor 33 other competitors could stop Justin Marks from scoring his first ARCA Racing Series victory Saturday at Palm Beach Int’l Raceway.
Marks, a road course veteran, was declared the winner of 70 laps of the 75-lap were complete. The race was called early because of a rain shower that soaked the track and forced officials to stop the event five laps short of the finish.
The majority of the event was run in the rain, with teams utilizing rain tires provided by Hoosier Racing Tire. It was the first time in the 58-year history of the ARCA Racing Series that an event was run using a wet tire compound.
Robb Brent, driving the No. 36 Dodge fielded by Allgaier Motorsports, recoverd from an early pit road infraction to finish a career-best second on the 2.034-mile road course.
Blake Koch, making his first ARCA start in the No. 6 Eddie Sharp Racing Toyota, finished third. Tom Hessert and Steve Arpin completed the top five.
Rookie polesitter Casey Roderick traded the lead early with Marks and Steve Arpin before retiring to the garage after completing 44 laps. He finished 21st.
