CONCORD, N.C. — Seventeen-year old driver Taylor Ferns has signed with Venturini Motorsports to contest a seven-race schedule in the ARCA Racing Series in 2013.
Ferns tested with Venturini during the three-day ARCA Racing Series test at Daytona Int’l Speedway last month, but will not race there in February.
Instead, she will make her ARCA debut on March 9 at Mobile Int’l Speedway in Irvington, Ala. She also plans to compete at Toledo (Ohio) Speedway, Elko (Minn.) Speedway, Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds, Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa., and Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky.
Taylor’s selective ARCA schedule will compliment and coincide with her full-time duties driving midgets and Silver Crown cars in the United States Auto Club (USAC) Series.
“This is an exciting chapter in my lif,” Ferns said. “I’ve been thinking about the day I would move up to drive in the ARCA Series for a long time, and now that I’m pairing up with the Venturinis’ it gives me a lot of confidence and high expectations going into the season.”
Already the winningest female driver in USAC’s history, Ferns made history at Toledo Speedway by claiming her first USAC Mopar D1 Regional Midget Championship in 2011.
