BROCKVILLE, Ontario — Billy Decker scored his second-straight Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified Series triumph Saturday, winning the 100-lap main event at Brockville Ontario Speedway.
Stewart Friesen took the lead at the start on the three-eighths-mile oval, but it didn’t take Decker long to track him down. By lap 11 the leaders were in lapped traffic, and four laps later Decker passed Friesen for the first and only lead change of the night.
“We had a good starting spot and tonight we just got away with one,” said Decker, who pocketed $4,000. “Just have to thank John and Laura (Wight, owners) for this whole deal, they give me a great piece and Scott (Jeffery, crew chief) and the guys always have it ready on race day.”
Danny Johnson chased Decker for much of the event and finished second, enough to claim the series title and the $10,000 check that goes to the champion. Friesen was third ahead of Carey Terrance and Pat Ward.
