SCHERERVILLE, Ind. — Jeff Choquette had never seen Illiana Motor Speedway before Saturday, but that didn’t stop him from winning the Sunoco LMS National Tour Harvest 150 at the Indiana half-mile paved oval.
Originally slated to be a 300-lap event, the race was trimmed down to 150 laps as only eight entries appeared for the competition. The 150 lapper was run in two 75-lap segments with a 10-minute pit stop taking place at the halfway mark.
Driving a Chevrolet Impala, Choquette, who set fast time earlier in the day during time trials, held off Robbie Pyle, who finished .569 second behind Choquette at the checkered flag.
Eddie Hoffman finished third, trailing the leaders by almost a half lap at the finish. Brent Downey and A.J. Henriksen completed the top five.
Bryan Ortiz led most of the first 75-lap leg until Hoffman passed him for the top spot. After the halfway break Hoffman stayed on top for a dozen laps until Choquette rubbed Hoffman a little and took the lead.
