Purse Increased For Maynard Troyer Classic

WILLIAMSON, N.Y. – The Maynard Troyer Classic II on Sept. 3 at Spencer Speedway is going to be one big night for asphalt modified racing in the Western Region of New York and Pennsylvania.

Long-time friend of Troyer, Tom Forgione, has stepped up to become the Race of Champions Modified Series race title sponsor through his F/A Products Engine and Performance Parts brand.

Forgione and the Troyer family will be adding $3,000 to the overall purse as well providing racers other incentives. Anyone who runs a small F/A Products decal on their car at the MTC II will receive a $50 coupon spend at F/A Products.

“This is a great fit for our performance business,” offered Forgione. “Maynard was a tremendous friend and even raced with us with an IMSA car. This is going to be a special night and we are looking forward to it and helping out our fellow racers.”

Forgione is a former Modified driver and Spencer Speedway regular as well as still participating in IMSA races with a Ford Mustang. Maynard Troyer’s last competitive race occurred with Forgione in 1989 as co-driver during events at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) and at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut.

The bonuses added between Forgione and the Troyer family have been spread out through the field. The race will now pay $6,000-to-win.

Kenny Troyer has also begun work on his lap and bonus program, which will span across the Modifieds and Sportsman for this exciting night of racing. In just three short weeks in 2019, Troyer, friends and family raised over $10,000 for the first Maynard Troyer Classic.

In addition to the additional awards, the Modified race has been extended by 6 laps to make it a 66-lap race in honor of the speedway’s 66th season. The Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series will run a 36-lap race on this evening in addition to the Rocket Performance 602 Sportsman Modifieds racing for 16-laps in tribute to Maynard Troyer’s traditional No. 6.
