MADERA, Calif. — Davey Hamilton won the 40-lap Harvest Classic for the Speed Tour Supermodified Series at Madera Speedway on Saturday night.Â
The Nampa, Idaho, driver now living in Indianapolis, drove the famous No. 98 Pink Lady supermodified besting Jim Birges and Bobby Dalton.
The 63-year-old Hamilton was making his first race appearance of the 2024 season substituting for his 83-year-old father Ken in the Warren Budell-owned car. Hamilton started from sixth and took the lead on the 14th circuit passing Birges and Nathan Byrd with an inside move going down the backstretch.Â
From there, Hamilton set a torrid pace, building up a straightaway lead by lap 22.
By lap 34, Hamilton had put a lap on the fourth-place runner. By the end of 40 laps, only second-place Birges remained on the same lap as the winner.
Shauna Hogg won the 25 lap NCMA Sprint car feature beating David Goodwill and Tony Hunt.
