ELMA, N.Y. – Race of Champions officials have released an updated look at the Race of Champions Modified Series schedule.
The Race of Champions Modified Series will open the season with a traditional date at Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome on Saturday, May 7.
On Friday, June 3, the series will make it’s first visit to Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., for a 40-lap, $4,000-to-win special.
A new track will make it’s debut on the series schedule due to the persistence and patience of track promoter, Randy Maggio Jr. The series will debut at Lorain County Speedway in Ohio on Saturday, June 11.
A 50-lap, $,5000-to-win date on Friday, July 1, will be the next stop on the schedule at Spencer Speedway before the series returns to the high banks of Holland (N.Y.) International Speedway and the running of the 33rd annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak 110.
The series will take part in the traditional Night before the Glen, Rod Spalding Classic at Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome event on a new date of Saturday, Aug. 20 as the NASCAR Cup Series event at Watkins Glen International has moved to Sunday, Aug. 21.
The third appearance of the season at Spencer Speedway comes on Friday, Sept. 2, with what has now become a marquee and traditional event of the division. It will be a 67-lap race paying $6,000-to-win.
The 72nd annual Race of Champions 250 will take place on Sunday, Sept. 25 as part of Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend at Lake Erie Speedway on Sept. 23-25.
Other potential dates were removed from the race calendar in an effort to cooperate with other facilities and series to prevent event conflicts, giving competitors an opportunity to compete in all events without having to make a choice.
There were other tracks that had interest in dates, however, conflicting dates prevailed.
